Pyrannees (sic) ??
The area also once hosted an Olympic games.
but not as far distant as Vancouver to New York.
Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy
Bugger.... That was my next pick !
The area/run was actually called Forca (according to my note). Pic was taken back in 1994.
Anyway, it's goodnight from me.
Let me have a dig around for a photo, I'll be back in a few minutes.
Here it is.
I think Heinz has to be banned from this.
He has been everywhere, and he's a freaking photo taking machine.
This is a great thread! I get everything wrong, but nevertheless, it's a great fun!
Looks like the Marte chair/run at Las Lenas.
Looks like you've hit the nail on the head !!
Yes, the Marte lift in Las Lenas. Also known as The Greatest Chairlift In The World. It keeps going up and over the hill.
See, I told you Heinz would be the Ken Jennings of this. Over to you.
And a very fine challenging run it is too, especially the 2 chutes at the bottom. No grooming so you get all sorts of conditions through a week. Only problem can be waiting for the lift to open if it is very windy.
OK, try this one.
south america ?
I really have no idea, but a wild guess would be Patagonia, and considering Heinz's travelling portfolio it is quite reasonable to assume he's skied there too!
Is there anywhere he hasn't skied ??
Not South America or Norway. This is a place that many would have on their wish list.
I reckon Born2ski has it.
OK, back home after a very good (& warm) afternoon at the local footy. Watched the Crows get over Collingwood from the bar, then Glenelg easily account for Sturt.
Anyway back to the topic. Not quite there yet, but you're certainly on the right track.
Nice pic of Alyeska btw. Never got it that clear when I was there.
Geez you're making it hard Heinz.
Looking down the Rude River towards Nelson Bay in Alaska.
Not there (had to look it up - never heard of it).
It is much more well known and somewhere between your last two.
That's it! Taken from the heli flying back to Valdez after a great day skiing the steep and deep in the Chucagh on a rare clear day in April 2000.
.... Stop it !! ....
Back in a bit with a pic....
Probably too easy.
There is a ski connection.
Vancouver from Grouse mountain?
From the restaurant on Grouse mountain !!
You're both right !!
Ugly chain link fence means likely in Nth America. Looks like lake or sea at the base.
So I'm narrowing it down to Canada.
Neither of those. You are right though about a lake near the base.
And sorry MS, I just realised I jumped the gun a bit there.
I interpreted MP's post as confirming my answer without really taking notice of who was posting.
Sorry - i was about 5 shots back.
Thats Mt Cook from the area around the northern end of Lake Pukaki.
Watch out for didimo in those waterways!
That's the one! Taken from Glentanner station. I deliberately chose one with a bit of cloud obscuring the peak just to make it a little less obvious.
I'm not very good at this.
