Yep, about 1 km south of Walhalla Station. Yep, it is out of focus, but it looked okay when it was small. I only saw how bad it was when I posted the full size one here. Me bad. [IMG]

    Next picture please.

I wonder if I'm flogging a dead horse by putting up a photo after this thread has lain dormant for weeks.

How does that old joke go? Something like "I'm into sadism, necrophilia and beastiality, but people tell me I'm just flogging a dead horse". Sorry. [IMG]

I wasn't sure, but the snowpoles restrict the possible locations. I reckon Craig's got it.

Yep the previous pic is Bishop and Clerk on Maria Island. I think I will use it for the cover of a trip brochure, if I can manage to rent a few of the nice houses down there.

It looks a bit like King Spur off Mt Koonika, although the fuzziness of the background makes it difficult to pin down.

But I'd bet it's somewhere in the Buller - Howitt area.

Yes, the smoke haze is from the fires this summer. I don't have any photos without it unfortunately.

Bogong, it's not in the Buller - Howitt area.

It almost looks like the Sentinal, but left face suggests otherwise.

Telestrom, not in NSW. The right hand face does look a bit Sentinalish though.

GS is correct. Photo was taken whilst descending Quartz Ridge, looking south. The western face is quite impressive, and looks much steeper than the map suggests.

Well, it could be anywhere on the Alpine Walking Track in Victoria, for some reason it reminds me of the slopes of Mt Wills.

So far Bogong is closest, but still a little off, and yes it is the AAWT as indicated by marker.

Yep, Duane Spur. On the way down the occasional "less steep" bits are noticeable, on the way up I'm normally struggling and only recall it as a long climb.
One of my favourite pics of the Vic Alps. Unfortunatley, the scan isn't as good as the original print - lacks the depth or something. Taken early one morning just as the mist was starting to lift, just magnificent.

I've only been down it. I am a very occasional walker, unfit and uncoordinated. I found duane spur frightening with a heavy pack. I'd get the shakes and have to stop every 5 minutes or so to relax my muscles and nerves. Eventually I found nice staff and that helped immensely.

Yep, this is Australia's first downhill ski run, pictured from just near the building which has been everything from courthouse to ski lodge. There was once a rope tow servicing this slope.
