WTF is it with pricks that start towing in once it gets over 3'.

FFS, the Alley was like the start of the Sydney to Hobart this week with pro's getting towed in and wanna be pro's jumping on the bandwagon. It's not that hard to paddle in. Harden up princesses.

    Ok I've vented.

It is gooooood up here. It is really good. Tides have been a pain for my early mornings but nice to have the swell. Circus time this weekend.

I do have wistful moments when I think about mounting a sub machine gun on viewing rock at the Alley and mowing them all down. Ah we can but dream.

I didn't get a look (much less a surf) at Palm Beach today, but this afternoon I was at a memorial service for an old friend from the ski club at Mona Vale Golf Club and got to check that part of Mona Vale and down to Warriewood from the balcony. It is very very big and messy. A lot of water moving around and discoloured rip water running maybe 1km out from the beach. The photo doesn't do it justice at all, but this is all I've got:

I don't think I can do the early tomorrow morning at Palm Beach either. My twins have an early soccer game and my wife wants to do 7am yoga at Bend-in-the-Road, so i might let her surf check for me and I'll head down for a surf (likely with a million randoms at Kiddies' Corner) later in the day if it is at all surfable.

This was down the coast last Tuesday, lumpy and big but got a few.

Was in Sydney today and it was massive, watched some guys towing Maroubra. There would have been some novelty waves working but didnt have time. Hopefully sneak one in tomorrow.

Surf was loud last night, and we're a k or so back from the open ocean.

My beachside operative's yoga just finished. She reports three loonies out at Bend-in-the-Road, lots at Kiddies' Corner and generally humongous. Sent me this photo:

We overlook the Coila (Tuross), over a k back from the beach as the crow flies, but can see big sets flaring on the outer banks. Not bad given the sand there was badly affected by the black NE'r and it's a big high tide right now.
Boy is about to sleep, will go for a look shortly ;)

Its a shame that guys come down Bulli Pass and think they can dog the locals like they do up North. So many people flocked to Sandon this morning it was ridiculous.

Went for a dig out North end on the beach.
Was picking up again even this morning it seemed.
Say 6 foot. Way overhead easIly on the sets.
Those bit more sync and surf fit where getting some real nice barrels.
I had a few but nothing epic , big drops and runs down the line.
Copped a mother set on the head and came in tail between the legs.

6ft - open beaches down here are crazy, I just saw a set that must have been close to a 4m face, maybe a bit of tide effect also with it quickly rushing out. Overall still consistent 2m+ with a few bigger bombs.

Was large at Palm Beach. I only had 45 minutes or so, got 10 waves, avoided any destruction. Caught them, then paddled or waded around to the (insanely fast today) rip running right next to the rock pool at Kiddies' Corner then paddles back across for the next one.

I was getting the smaller (but weird, doubling up and shallow and sandy) right handers out from Kiddies' - there were some excellent but really really big and inconsistent lefts breaking back in towards Kiddies' but too many people on them - between people waiting 1/2 way to NZ for the bombs, too many in the main pack and people caught inside or who generally shouldn't have been out there in the impact zone. Might give that bank a go tomorrow morning early when it will probably just be people I know surfing it - safer and more fun that way.

Final note: the SLSC wisely had the beach closed for swimming BUT there were a lot of people seemingly with a death wish bodysurfing or otherwise just wanting spinal injuries in the impact zone. Lifesavers had people stationed along the beach and two out at the end of the rock pool to save people from themselves. I didn't see any rescues or other badness but the way it was breaking and the speeed the rips were running out it was only a matter of time.

I think there's a gentleman's agreement aka the unwritten code that the pack has to agree to the Tow ins.
At least down here on the slabs , reefs and Bommies .
The Crew call whether it's cool to tow or not.
Bit different here being tight community and you phuck up you gotta live with the consequences.
And for the younger crew that's usually your Dad and his mates , if you're lucky.....
If your not lucky , then thats what they call bad luck.

Surfed the 'been this arvie, after checking the entire Northern Beaches. Solid tide fizzled after the arvo Low Tide. Not much more than 2-4ft in the water now. South Facing joints will do good tomorrow in the Northerly.

Wow, 2-4ft? Surfed North Steyne/Carlton St this afternoon and was still 4-6ft.

This morning was 4-5ft+ and flawless early before the crowd got into it, and then the swell kicked back to 6-8ft. Some heavy AF bottomless lefts at North Steyne but too heavy for me.

Stoked on 5 days surfing my big wave board now, yew.

Stand on board and sink it down, dive off it to bottom and let the board flick up behind you in style.

Here's how Kiddies' Corner looks this morning. I have beeen watching for 10 minutes and this is about the best set that has come through:

There are a couple of guys in the water but I haven't seen a wave ridden yet. I am paddling out shortly.

Sad to see this happen, but after being in yesterday's conditions I could see how easily this has unfolded if you were stupid enough not to check the forecast.
    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-03-...f-manly-while-not-wearing-life-jacket/8347122

In between the roguely 5-6 foot sets was predominately 1-3 foot, very deceptive surf conditions yesterday IMO.
I surf checked a lot yesterday and more often than not I'd rock up to the beach and wonder where all the swell was, then within 3-5 mins you'd see it grow 4-fold.

Is this the most dangerous sport in the world now?!! I reckon it's gotta be up there eh

Every time the words 'rock fisherman' and 'death' come up it's almost always foreigners who can't speak english and / or don't read the signs

Central Coast Pro (WSL QS). With strengthening onshore wind this morning. Set waves were usually overhead on the takeoff, dropping in size on the bank.

TC Bianca redux for the Sou-West a slight possibility...? Twice in a decade would be pretty special. Loooong way out, but we all know the outcome if it was to recurve wider and more south of GFS's suggestion below.

Great waves around Gerringong over the weekend. Had a huge wedding on but managed a sneaky surf at one of the obscure novelty waves with no one out, stoked!

Randwick Council is conducting 12 month thrial mandatory life jacket for rock fishing.
It will become Statewide I predict.
But despite that it still won't prevent stupidity.
