Coupla SW systems towards the middle of Autumn, but largely SA has been the ridging shadow (particularly in the last 2-3 weeks) IMO. Combo of both maybe?

Yeah it's been average for sure, especially after the endless W/SW swells earlier this year.

Didn't VIC / SA have an above average and unusual summer period for swell?

And the analog wave of goodness begins. That, That is just shear power on a southern SSE hemisphere scale. Bring back the Biff. I Am thinking Pow Hungry ought to be talking about a bit BIFF from the SSE soon on the Net. Should be a cracking swell if it comes off. I just wish the BOM would shoot there Satellite View frame further South. I mean no one lives further south than us really.

And today there was some decent actions on the Scat. Its so hard to imagine that fetch can link up with south Coast of NSW. But it should.

I think it was more east coast Tassie. There was a solid NE fetch but missed us here down in Merimbula. Any tassie lasses / lads confirm.

Liking the new picture. I am keen as to hit that ridge this year. Always offshore over there and at 2200 m you just cant go wrong. Spent one epic day out there this year and saw a few awesome lines in October too.

And the S/SE groundswell off that low south of NZ is a cracker! Due Monday in NSW.

Wind straight easterly today (rubbish)................no surfing, better for other activities, just not hang/para gliding. Young fella rang me this morning telling me that he had just witnessed a para glider crash into power lines at Sunrise Beach. He said the chute rapped around the power lines and the guy was dangling below the lines still in his harness. He unhooked himself from the harness and fell to the ground............alive!!!! Power out in the region............Freaky.

Deep south fetch on Friday morning.
These are unreal on the open beach points when they deliver.
    Watching that with keen interest.

GFS has been highly adaptive throughout the interseasonal change (last 4-6 weeks) IMO. But I agree, hard to believe - along with the amplitude of this system.

At least its arriving on A Monday.

I remember A Wollongong Local of Richo's pedigree from Wanoona tell me about bounce back swells. The analysis back then was the so many westerlies swells hit NZ that the swell bounced back to the East Coast and made up loosing the Rugby . You had to come up with something when the Storm is off the charts and cant see it. The last good one hit in June 2012. They tend to hit the far south coast more.

    Just saw this...............
    https://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/news/hang-glider-crash-emergency-reports/3179314/
Report is wrong saying Sunshine Beach, as it is at Sunrise. There is a very small park for gliders to take off from there.

Yeah we had an exceptional summer which really set the bar..

It looks as though tomorrow early will be good down south. So i will make the most of that and find some more exposed breaks Sunday

Wow. What a pleasant surprise between the close outs. Some size and power in the water this morning across the Eastern Subs.
2-3ft in the forecast. 5-7 foot out the back every 20-25mins or so... Only surfed with 2 other this morning, suckers!!!

While our model isn't picking up the size well till later today, Ben had the swell forecast in his notes. It has arrived a little earlier though and with peak periods of 17-18s I'm not surprised. A very strong and powerful event.

Had a great surf on Saturday am. 6 of the 7 stars aligned and managed to score an excellent bank for a few hours with only 2 others out. I hadnt seen waves break so well in a long time. Super Racey and hollow and fun. One grom was getting real deep barrels. I was gettijg caught on the lip and smashed. All good fun though. Probably 3' with some 4' sets. Easily my best surf for a good 5 months.. and it looks like out west may light up this weekend

Went down yesterday am expecting simular things and it was almost flat.. still surfed for an hour or so. But it really wasnt worth it.

I reckon the bank at South Broulee could hold this size too. All those other places are too far north :)
