Grumpy that I got Spring skiing in Late Jan / early Feb and now the snow comes. Guess it's always a roll of the dice. Oh well, it was the third time I've been to Europe to ski and the first time I've had to put up with some rain.

Don't get me wrong. Still better than being at work :D

Yeah timing can be a drag. Just gotta make the most of whatever you get.

After wifey just had her first brissie summer (jan was hotter than balls) she now wants jan somewhere cooler...

School holidays will push us that way too eventually

    Now back in Melbourne.
Missing Leogang and surrounds. Missing the XC trails, the mountains - SkiCircus, the Tyrolean food and endless cinnamony velvety beers.

    Not coping at all. :cry::cry:
Hard to switch your brain from Deutsch to Englisch too. Haha

some reports say that they've stopped the search and declared no victims. Other reports say many buried. Hard to decipher reality at this stage.

All the Cham photos posted here and snow finally arriving was too much, pushed the button on a last minute trip to la grave - leave in just over a week - last year of la grave lift being independently run before the risk of takeover by one of the major lift companies.

One of the guides at the lodge had some interesting thoughts about the whole situation - just hope they preserve the experience.

    Chamonix.
Le Grands Montets today opened at 10:00.
30 cm overnight. 1 hour queue on the Telepherique, I got on the Gondy within half an hour.
It was a morning of face shots. Vis variable. Everyone was there.
After lunch the the place was thoroughly tracked. I made four off the 6 pack chair "Herse", then enough.
<edit> BTW, Avy rating 4/5. No climbing. Wednesday (tomorrow) rain forecast after 10:00.

snow-forecast.com calls it at 2000m. meteofrance.com gives no altitude, so presume it's in the valley.

Love Europe but it's a long trip and the budget only goes so far once you have to pay a mortgage.

It's going batshit here in Tirol, a foot of wet heavy snow, Avi risk 4/5, we are skiing on piste with our gear, run out of 120+mm skis to test. Snow all night and all day.

Not sure what we will do the next couple of days, might take the scenic route back to Cham via Italy, we could ski here as a friend guides in the next valley but with 4/5 there's not much point.

So we were going over the Brenner Pass when we accidentally turned left and found ourselves in Corvara so I guess we had better do the Sella Ronda tomorrow. Whoops.

But I would like to get on col de la bûche, under the moon, some time. The traverse approach looks nice.

    Any snow there, @CarveMan?

    Bloody lovely!

Eiffel tower and street strolling in Le Marais today :) Wonderful sunny early spring day in Paris. Streets teeming, smiles all over. Serious fashion!! I look even daggier here than at home
