I joined Duncan for his first ski fit class last week at Bloc Haus in Canberra. Not sure if saying I enjoyed the session sounds like it was easy ( it wasn't), or that I am sadistic, (it has been suggested I am); But I did enjoy the session, it was a solid workout and the legs felt it the next day and Duncan clearly knows his stuff.

Hopefully it makes a difference this season.

I know there are spots available so I thought I'd share this to the ski.com.au community for Duncan.

I am not associated with the gym or athlete by choice, I just like seeing people have a go and if I can help, I will.

The physios attached to the Crows Nest sports injury clinic did this years ago. I went for a few years. It was really good.

OK, that was different. Would help if I was flexible, coordinated had balance. I used lots of muscles that haven't been used in a long time. Tomorrow is going to be interesting.

Must explain again to Duncan that I don't ski backcountry or tele. Seems like we spent a lot of time doing that sort of stuff ;)

There is a lot of balance work, as I said tonight I like it because I can see the application on skis.

My brother owns/runs a yoga / health centre in USA.
He does alot of work with NFL atheletes, who are sceptical at first about "non specific" sessions.
They change their mind after they open it.
P.S. I had beer tonight after exercise.

Nice, subtle Perisher v Thredbo sledge, I like it!

    Banter on!

For the record I often have Nightmares about being stuck skiing on Perisher Front valley

Two days and that's the best you came up with? Your banter moves as quickly as the lift queues at Perisher......

I can't be fixed, my mind is free and so is my heel!

I have taken Zimboos approach and am enjoying a beer after training, not an easy exercise after the dumbbell exercises

Hahaha pretty dull outfit, but then again perfect for a dull afternoon skiing front valley.

P.s what are the chains for? A little overkill or are you planing on driving the car up and down for a little fun......

Chains aren't technically necessary until next weekend are they? Saw some snow up around Kiandra today

I always carry chains but not sure what the law states; but I'd assume that if the resorts are open and the road warrants chains the dates would be arbitrary.

Chains go in when roof racks go on... which reminds me to add to hubbys to do list. Thankyou!

Yeah but the roads don't warrant it this weekend. As of next Saturday it's mandatory.

I agree that the road probably doesn't warrant chains this weekend but like snowfi I keep them in the car regardless.

In terms of the law, it states that chains are required to be carried from long weekend to long weekend, but also goes on to say chains may be required in certain weather conditions. I read this to say that if there is a concern the conditions may deteriorate you can be forced to carry chains any time.

Bottom line is, it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Snowfi, you probably guess, but these are the sessions I was telling you about. Well worth a look.

The focus is more on building strength through a range of motion so lots of work on a bosu (?) ball, we do a combination of balance and strength exercises. I have really noticed the difference even crossing over to other sports. The last 20 minutes is a bit of a killer with a lot of holds and exercises designed to get the lactic flowing.

Pass on my congrats to snowted, as well!

Or AWD having said that I've seen plenty of 4wd's in the ditch on the way to the snow because they thought they were too good for chains.

Yep and that's not me, I'll take the tube on nasty days. If I didn't have an AWD I wouldn't get out of my house some days in winter. Can't imagine having to fluff about with chains.

But I think often those 4wd's in the ditch are there due to their driving rather than the lack of chains. They think they are "safe" and drive as they would on a clear road around suburban Sydney.

I will consider joining you in a week or two. I do a lot of exercise, two gym sessions with a trainer, two group exercise 'bootcamp' classes and rugby training each week but there's always time for one more session. Will wait a bit as I am getting over a respiratory tract infection at the moment.

Actually I believe another Thredbo skiier is joining us on Thursday!

The word has got out that the training is perfect for the long steep runs at Thredbo; if you keep training hard DSNS one day you too will be able to ski there ;)

I believe the saying is "Jealousy is a Curse"!

By the time you have battled the queue on the Telemark T Bar, just to get back onto pit straight, sorry I mean front valley. You then have the trudge across the bridge to the tube, sounds very British and up market for a grubby old train. Hopefully and if your lucky you get a seat otherwise it's stand up in the gear for 20 minutes until the train takes you to the nice side of the mountain where you get to glimpse up toward heaven as you trudge back to your car.

Meanwhile after a peace stoll (about 200m) I've dropped my skis back at the locker and am on my way to the bar (another 50m).

In short I'm a bottle of Chardy down by the time you get your boots off

All those heated paths must make it easier.
