22.7C in Melbourne.
30+ can GAGF. Had enough of it over Xmas.
Anyone care to punt on when this high will weaken and let some cooler air through so temps can get back to near normal. This pattern has been around for two weeks or more.
Its alright Xmas day when you can sit in the pool and drink frothies.
It can EAD work hours
I ended up spending over 4 hours in the car on Xmas day. Had a dip after lunch, then it was straight down to Mt Eliza. Was actually happier inside the car with the AC on than outside of it.
Plonked myself in the olds pool straight after lunch and didnt leave till about 8.
Think my old lady had had enough of me by that stage.
Has been a fizzer in Dubbo so far. Cloud cover all day and a maximum of 33. Quite muggy though.
Dunno where you are, but a vigorous front makes itself known across all of Vic & NSW tomorrow arvo and into Saturday. That's as good as 'reprieve' you're gonna see this time of year.
Considering the last week or two, it's as pretty typical summer set-up if you ask me.
Happy to be corrected but I am still not seeing much in the way of TS/convective activity for Victoria on Friday. Seems confined to SA & NSW to me.
Sure looks like a gusty frontal change for Vic, but the chance of over-run at elevation looks somewhat negligible - I feel this would be mainly evident in NSW.
No I can't see any TS activity.
But I do think it will be moderately wet Friday afternoon with a very gusty change.
Well it was warm in Canberra yesterday. I had a visitor too, a juvenile duck decided to rest in my front courtyard. The poor thing was so exhausted it couldn't get off the ground. It's pretty lucky as it picked my place as both my neighbors have dogs that would have made short work of it. I didn't bother trying to catch it, but I left some water in a shallow bowl so it could get a drink.
No sign of the duck this morning, so hopefully he is merrily swimming around in one of the lakes.
Check out the temperature stats for Bourke this January. Mean maximum of 39.9 12 days into the month. That's proper hot.
Still a Negative SAM for the next 2 weeks and looks like beyond that into at least mid February on EC.
If it stays around, winter could be sweeter.

nice to wake up to the sound of rain this morning.
Radar pretty full, not heavy but should drizzle for a while, enough to wet everything
Yeh, started here just after 6am.
No watering of the garden required today.
It's forecast to be 37C in Canberra today. Lots of roos have come into suburbia this morning.
No wind to speak of, bay was like glass.
Might pick up later as forecast
Supposed to be 42 here. Got the sprinklers on this morning.
Yesterday wasn't too bad. I spent the whole day at my desk without ever needing to turn on the air conditioner. Had lunch outside much to the dismay of the fat crowd that were hiding inside and running vehicles for 20 mins in the parked car just to ensure there precious temples of lard did not get exposed to anything above 23 degrees.
Yeh, it will come just before the change.
Pity, its quite pleasant with the rain and zero wind
Wednesday is looking particularly unpleasant in Sydney. Over this weather already. Bring on April and the first 15C minimum!
Another 46 forecast for Bourke today.
43C forecast for Penrith and 46C in White Cliffs and Bourke!
Wind picking up now.
Was a seriously wet start on the beach in little dip conservation park this morning. Damn it rains hard in south australia
Yep, still very humid also.
Radar showing that big band that hit Adelaide moving across the border and into Vic. The heaviest stuff has just left Adelaide.
Bad fire conditions out here atm. 38 so far in town and blowing 30km/hr with 50km/hr gusts.
43 in Bourke at midday. Yikes.
I saw forecast to top temp on ABC weather last night for Bourke today of 46
39.6C in Canberra at 2:43pm
Rain band about to come through Canberra, should cool things down a bit.
Some big numbers out west. Parkes and Forbes have hit around 44, Bourke got to 46.5 so far, wilcannia and white cliffs up at 46 also. Still may go higher.
45 at Penrith. Smokin.
Felt all 45 of those degrees waiting outside for a lift home from first aid training earlier. 50km/h winds didnt help either. Fkn ridic.
From 36.9C to 25.1C in 10 minutes
Meanwhile its only 29c in the City, that's some temp difference! It's normally 5-10c but 15c is quite exceptional considering Penrith is only about 50km from the coast and the Obs Hill site is probably even warmer than it otherwise would be due to the Urban Heat island effect.
That be the NE wind vs the NW wind.
Rain is clearing, the Southerly picking up, you can feel the humidity finally pissing off.
Will be a much nicer night for snoozing
Still 43 at Penrith and Richmond at 6.31 pm.
GFS upgrading the capability of severe TS for the NSW north coast tomorrow.
Still 30 here, hot for 1100 M at 7.30 pm!
Summer, do not like.
Air con, 18 all day, civilised.
39c at 9pm down the hill. Aircon getting a massive workout.
Is this a genuine heatwave @Snow Blowey ?
