Sorry I cant give you a full trip report as it wasn't me but the mrs who has just returned from Kyrgyzstan. I have just edited a little video for her and thought it would be good to share here.

The place sounds amazing!, Unfortunately they didn't make the summit due to poor weather but its certainly a place that's left its mark....the people, the scenery, the food have left a lasting impression and its a place we definitely want to explore more of in the future.

If anyone wants more info I can relay messages to her and once she has sorted through the photos I will see if I can add them with a proper trip report.

in the meantime here is the video clip

    I showed it to spouse
she said she would never contemplate such a trip
    I wasn't surprised
she comes on ski trips sometimes eg Zermatt last Jan and St Johann im Pongau next Jan, but that's really the limit

She got to camp 2 around 5500 then hiked up to about 5800 for acclimatising. Shame the weather and time restraints put an end to the trip because they were all acclimatising well.

I think she said a Polish group had planned to ski down a section but most were trekking. The top should be fine but lower down your following a fixed rope over a glacier and jumping crevasse until the ridge at about 6000m.
Incidentally, the day they pulled the plug and went back down a group set off to reach camp 3 at 6200 and someone managed to fall in a crevasse requiring a full on rescue and recovery mission.
Another couple put in a huge 19hr day to summit before the weather came in....made it but on the way down got stuck in the blizzard without GPS...very lucky to have made it back in one piece due to the fact they stumbled on a group with GPS retreating from the exposed ridge back to camp 2.

Must say she is truly gutted not to summit on this one. Its been her dream to summit a 7000+ peak and she put a heap of work in prior as expected.

Peak Lenin as far as about camp 1( advanced base camp at about 4300 M. ) is on my list of things to do. I have been to Uzbekistan and really liked the travel experience there.I want to go Tajikistan to brush up my Persian language as well as see the Pamir Highway and go to Kyrgyzstan for trekking. They are both on my list . I will go probably as 50 th birthday present to myself. A trek to The source of the Ganges river in India and a trip to reach the summit of the highest peak in Morocco are the next two trips I have planned.

Aaah , leeks and leaks. Who invented this language?. Hindi is far more phonetically written and has fewer words that sound the same but are not the same.
