Wife has picked up a chest infection with fever. Need to visit a GP to get antibiotics. Does anyone know if there is a best approach to getting this done locally? Or can anyone recommend a local clinic? Thanks in advance.

You dont say where you are, but I am assuming Sun Peaks. There is an on mountain clinic at Sun Peaks. http://sunpeakshealth.com/

Yep we're in Sun Peaks but driving to Revie today and the clinic doesn't open until 4 so Kamloops most likely

Hospital in Kamloops. Just google. It is $1000 to get looked at by a doctor though if you are a foreigner.

But travel insurance should cover this. When we had to go into Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Vancouver Island for a broken wrist, we had to pay upfront on our credit card but it was all paid back by the travel insurance company. Just make sure you let them know by calling their hotline and getting a file opened before incurring the charge - some companies may refuse claims on the basis of lack of notification.

Yes travel insurance covered it. But you need the space on your credit card.

Yeah....I wouldn't go to a hospital. Unless it is an emergency.
Go to a GP clinic...or ask a pharmacy for advice on which GP clinic. I've gone to a pharmacy before and asked for a recommendation

The words to use when asking locals for directions or advice are "walk-in clinic". Kamloops will have several, and there will be more in the towns along the way. Typically the clinics are staffed by a coalition of local GPs are open 6 or 7 days a week.

Cheers guys. After half a dozen ph calls Kamloops was looking ugly so planned to find one in Revie. Dropped into the small town of Chase on a whim and was seen by a GP at a clinic within 5 mins. $100 cash fee. Great result all round as wife was diagnosed prescribed and dosed up by mid arvo. Now we just have to get over the flu... And protect the other four of us. Thanks for the replies, Revie beckons...
