okay we have had a bad accident with a carload full of teenagers, a pile of people caught speeding around the area and another report of an escape by some more teens in .... wait for it..... Cars!

so for some reason or another we will again see this doosh bag carrying on threatening to increase "Hoon Laws" and start crushing people's cars and introducing speed limiters.

Dear John, please wake up to yourself.

inexperience and attitude is the problem, in some cases you can benefit from more horsepower and speed, in some cases you don't. general drivers and perticulary young drivers cannot make those distinctions.

Soo how about this

1. every new licence issued comes with 50 hours community service in a trauma ward, rehab centre. make it part of VCE

2. every new licence issued must complete defensive driving

3. every new licence issued must compelte a high performance driving course

this will cover both ends of the spectrum and hopefully give those who are going to hoon regardless the right mental attitude when driving cars irresponsibly.
"do it in wide open spaces and do it alone."

i think the past week is evidence enough that Brumby and his Laws don't work.

I like this idea, although it might put people off riding motorcycles for life when they hear ER docs and nurses talk about 'donor cycles'.

Not about his hoon legislation, but other stuff about him. What's all this about "increasing the water grid"? So the word 'pipeline' is not popular. How stupid does he think the electorate is that it wouldn't know what he'd talking about? Actually, the electorate is pretty stupid ......

New P plate laws-

-Cannot apply for a license until you reach 30.

-Car cannot be capable of exceeding 18kmph.

-Cannot ever carry passengers. Period.

OR grow a brain. Dont put yourself in such a situation.
Works fine for 99% of the population...

Yes, everyone throws their arms up in the air every time there is a road fatality. ANY human, driving a motor vehicle = deaths. Personally I think the few hundred deaths a year is a very low number considering the amount of people hours spent driving each year.

Edit: Before I am attacked for being insensitive, I think knowing someone who died in a car accident would be horrible, but unforuntatly death of all forms are a fact of life. Getting the number of road accidents to 0 is never going to happen.

Actually, the link you're using is to an accident involving an unlicenced driver. 4 kids aged 12 to 17, and just one minor injury. Doesn't say if hoon behaviour or speed was involved. And it's not a Falcodore.

Some of your suggestions may be reasonable, but not every kid does VCE

Once upon a time it was 'horses kill'! How many people were killed annually from falls from horses? This was because: a) they are animals and not predictable; b) there were lots of the being used for transport; c) they weren't always kept under control; d) anyone could ride one/drive a buggy.

Are they high performance? Probably not.
Are they dangerous? Yes, at times.
Have there been safety improvements? Yes, introduction of helmets but little else.
Will we ever wipe out injury/death by animals? Not unless they are made extinct.

Back to the point though, tougher restrictions need to be placed on inexperienced drivers - eg: restricting the engine size, power to weight ratio, speed, acceleration capabilities of the car. Most cars are capable of doing the speed limit, many of exceeding it. Training of drivers will go part way, conditioning of drivers may go the rest of the way.

How about the annoying cretin who is the head of Vic traffic ops constantly lecturing us like we're children then getting busted for speeding and saying how he was lucky he didn't drift into a tree because he was 10 k' s over the limit. WTF is he on?

not fast enough \:p i'm sure there is hepas of red tape around shooting horses that slows down the process.

well as every kid doesn't do VCE make it part of year 10 and really burn it into their psyche

end of the day i don't care if they wrap themselves around any imovable object, just as long as they do it alone.

end of the day i think we will just have to put up with more doosh ideas because the premier's face looks like gay and he is a retard.

Remember a few months ago some very graphic road trauma ads were shown in the UK and people complained?

These were the ones with the dead parents in the front seat, with the kids in the back saying to the paramedics "why isn't daddy waking up?"

IIRC the accident was set off by a young chav texting and driving.
