I'm female, so not sure my opinion counts, but I certainly wear undies underneath the skins.

I've seen my son wear boxers under his, looks pretty silly, normal undies or boy leg undies fit better. That's my observation.

definitely go the jox with the skins.
they will last a lot longer before needing washing, and you have one extra layer to keep your bum warm.
I have never had problems with skins and jox.

I always wear undies under skins...

I have recently (last couple of years) got some undies that wick nicely... works better to keep you dry...

Husband normally wears boxers or 'tightie whities' but he wears the smaller type jocks under his skins. I wear the underwear I normally wear (not going into details there!). They'd be more comfortable without, but I don't think you would be able to wear them multiple days. I wear mine 2-3 days (or a weekend) before washing, on a longer trip I have 2 pairs I alternate, but they don't stay fresh for long.

but they are called skins for reason.

If anything maybe jocks, but boxers would just be silly.

wear nothing, why risk compromising their functionality? theyre not hard to wash. all i can say is err, keep clean and they won't get too smelly too fast anyway lol.

Definitely jox/undies/knickers

I agree with LT... even wearing undies they're whiffy enough after a weekend... definitely not good to wear longer unless you're BC and alone in your tent ;\)

jocks, not boxers you'll need constant readjustment.

Not sure if your skins have much functionality in, errm, that region for you to be worried about compromising it. If perhaps you're wearing them for other reasons then perhaps you have the wrong idea \:p

Freeball for me.

Its the only way to go, cotton undies take away all the good stuff the skins have (moisture wicking). If you must wear undies get some merino or at least moisture wicking ones. Otherwise its like wearing a thermal top and a cotton singlet underneath. Useless

You'll get a couple of days out of your skins, and they are easy to wash. I have 2 pairs so can rotate them.

I have a couple of pairs of bike shorts which I use under the skins.

Just alternate and wash the bike shorts daily and the skins should last quite a few days.

"We believe there is no B.O in the great outdoors" so says the columbia sign half way up mnt Perisher. They also believe you don;t have to run faster than a bear, just faster then your camp mates so these people obv. know what they are talking about.

whatever makes you happy LOL

When snowboarding I don think it matters as there is not really much repetitive movement from the waste down that would cause problems. I have never had problems with wearing none, regular briefs or boxer briefs. But I always choose to wear something to help lengthen the washing cycle (especially on tour), and the general hygiene.

Skiing might be a bit different, but I cant see how any regular pair of briefs would be problematic. The smaller the better I guess, and probably better if they weren't a heavy cotton.

I got the +1 some that are made of some wicking stuff... He normally prefers cotton... He says they make a huge difference under the silk thermals I got him... He would normally have cotton undies and polypro thermals... I got the silk to make a thinner layer under his race suit... He was doing a lot of hiking so sweating a LOT...

the no cotton comes down to my backcountry bias - I suppose cotton is fine on resort, but even slightly damp cotton undies are not nice if you are still out there when the late arvo chill is happening, let alone when the sun goes down.
