headline on ABC's website this morning .If whoever put it on the abc's website did a little research they will have found that it snowed at most alpine areas of Victoria and NSw last night and that the abc is breaking their charter by helping promote a business ie advertising and that as a result I am sure lots of people have visited the falls creek website this morning.

The mountain around launceston all have a nice cover..mt Arthur, mt barrow & Ben Lomond .. could easily be 7-8cm on the Ben.. Mawson looks like 10cm plus by the cam.. Rare to have a solid fall like that in december even though it can snow any month of the year in tassie

You should have stayed down here. It's much better than stinky QLD.

Falls has a resident professional photographer, and another in Mt Beauty. They are both well placed to feed news outlets with out of season pics.
If Buller & Hotham were more attractive places to live in summer, they might be better placed to feed the media

The abc obviously doesn;t have a resident journalist who actually does a bit of research to discover that its not only falls creek (who have fed them the lovely snaps of snow in summer)that has had snow .Its ok to mention the story that the photos were taken in falls creek and credit the camera person .

A reliable friend in Tas (and past contributor here) tells me that there was up to 20cm in some areas/peaks on the Western side.

We lived in Hobart then and we had a lovely white Christmas day on Mt Wellington as well. That clip though is a beauty for that time of year.

I took Wednesday off work and stayed Tuesday night at Howitt Plains, waaay north of Licola at about 1620m asl. Summer snowfall-chasing aw yeah. Had about 10cm by 10am on the ground, was all gone by 3pm.
