Its not funny but highly ironic that the canterbury area gets buried in snow the southern lakes get a dusting but Ruapehu just got plain rinsed!!! All the excitemnet of June 16th opening has been somewhat tampered.

My kids (and me) are so fascinated with that having been there in Sep last year when there was no snow on the ground there. That's a pretty significant dump of snow. I don't think I would have made it up to those waterfalls in those conditions.
