I bought a waxing kit off ebay and it came with 2 waxes, spring and universal.

I used the universal, but then looked at the temps they rated them for.

Universal was like -5 to -29 or something
Spring was -5 and up.

My question is:

Have i used the wrong wax for the temps we are seeing at the moment (going 25th to 30th)

Or am i not going to really notice much difference?

Cheers!!

Adam

Im almost 100% sure wax is rated to snow temperature not air temperature.
In that case universal wax should be fine, its what i use anyway

Changes by wax brand, but generally the temperature is an indication of the aggressiveness of the snow more than the temp.

You probably got the same kit as me \:\)

The red "universal" wax says -5 to -9 C
The yellow "spring" wax says -5 to wamer

I wouldn't worry too much \:\)

Been looking at that on ebay skidown. Did you get the digital one for $119?
What does the quality seem like?
Have you used it yet?
If so, what did you think?
Cheers

What brand? In my shop I use Swix universal wax on all the skis I hire out (except the premium skis & then I use the F4). Pinky red colour - the universal wax.

I have used this one about 20 times and its awesome, made in Japan, good temperature control etc.
I wouldnt bother paying extra for the digital one.

Cheers robbied. What do you use for stands to put the skis on?
Do you have to flex the skis to wax them?

I use a bench or a table. You do not flex the skis.

I use a mix of red & yellow mostly. I think it's Toko, but can't remember. It's the brand that's sold most widely. Might be Swix. I just melt both together over the ski, iron in and scrape off. There is a white universal wax too, but it always seems to be slower. If it was particularly cold I'd just use the colder wax (whichever that is). If it's really warm I do a layer of "Not Wax" over the bases, which is faster than any "wax" wax I know.
