Armarda pipe cleaners(old)$200 K2 Extreme(09)$300 Elan MO2(07)$300 Stolckli Snake(07)$300 Rossi Scratch(07)$300 I'm 70kg/5'10 Average to okay skier, will use them for everything in Australia, accept rails, I have some old skis if I decide to go down that avenue. I'm doing my first full time season, so should get better fast. All skis are ex demos, and top sheets on all or bad, Stocklis have the biggest scratches on base. All are around the 175-8length. What to get?

Buy new online. I bought a pair of new rossi scratch while in the states towards the end of a season for $225 from a retail store.

All the skis have bindings.

I'd still be inclined to not buy any of them. I got Rossi Scratch FS '07 and Axial 110 at the moment and they are a killer ski, love them, but PM has the good oil on this one. You'll get a much better ski if someone hasn't already blown it to hell as a demo / rental. YMMV

I can't find anything online cheaper than $300, even without bindings. Anyone know any good cheap online OS stores? I'm thinking the K2s are my best bet, but am tempted by the Elans and Stocklis.

I haven't had a look at any of those ski's in detail but i wouldn't go for anyone that has a foam core, if they have a wood core and don't feel like a noodle when you flex the ski you could be ok (try grabbing a new one of the shelf and flex it first, then flex the 2nd hand ski). Check there are no splits in the rails, chunks missing from the base aren't to big of a deal unless they go through to core or right through to the rail.

K2's are a wood core. They are ok. The top sheet will be RS in all likelyhood. Keep the wax up to the base otherwise it will burn easily. Edge metal seems to be a tad on the soft side.

Thanks for your replies fellas. I'll be buying today. More than likely the K2s, but will be checking out the Stocklis and Elans first.

Ended up with the 07 Stockkli Snakes. Purely because they were closest. I got my Look Pivitol bindings put on for $300 total. Yes I could have spent the day tomorrow searching the net for cheaper, but I'd rather be skiing. Hope they're good, got my binings put 1-1.5cm forward of center, hope that was a good idea also. Also learned that look are bringing out the Pivotal binding again soon. Thanks for everyones advice, even if I didn't take it, it was helpful, I just took the easiest option, figured the gamble was going to be on how thrashed the skis were, and not what they were origonally, so didn't think my choice mattered too much.
