Bill Barker
18 years ski patrolling at Mt. Hotham, Australia.
Current position: Assistant Director ski patrol.
Bill: Mt Hotham is a great resort (although small on a world wide scale) it has some really good terrain and we get our share of powder days. Our patrol is made up of 50 patrollers (paid and volunteers) and we respond to about 1200 callouts per season. I am a dedicated professional ski bum and have spent many seasons working and playing in Canada, Europe, New Zealand and Japan. When I'm not in the snow I spend my time following the surf or hanging out at Mt Arapiles (Australias best rock climbing area). An old ski bum mate first told me about Gulmarg. 15 years ago he showed me some footage from his time there. He told me stories of powder, rides back up the hill in army trucks and plans to build a gondola to the peak. Since then I have been keeping a close eye on Gulmarg's progress and am now more than ever looking forward to the experience. Hope to see you there...

Jorgen: I have worked and lived in ski resorts in the Alps and Sweden a big part of the year since the late eighties. The last ten years La Grave has been my winter base. There I have skied a lot with Ptor and have the experience of a big mountain that is been run without the use of explosives. I have been following the development of Gulmarg's gondola with big interest the last few years. It would be a very nice start of the season to help to open up Gulmarg Mountain, work with the local ski patrol and the mission Gulmarg team.
